I found a list that detailed every piece of gear that James Hetfield used during the recording of the band's first album, Kill 'Em All and built this preset using the Helix's replicated models from that list This took me quite some time to exactly replicate the tone as heard on the record. I set this preset until James' guitar and my guitar equaled one solid sound that couldn't be differentiated. I could be wrong, but I think that the secret ingredients that makes this tone lies within the use of the Proco Ratt and the placement of the midrange. I used my ESP Hetfield Truckster and Snakebyte guitars both equipped with James' signature EMG Pickups. Tweak as necessary.
