Hi there Here is my take on the Cali Rectifier! Happy summer from you friendly malcontent veritechc! This tone I made in response to Line 6 Helix Family of Product’s member Mike Yaeger request to dialing in the Cali Rectifier. He was having some trouble getting it to sound tight so I thought, even those my morals are so, so loose that I just might be able to create a tight sound, lol. Full disclosure here is that I love the sound of a good rectifier amp but generally haven’t left the Archon alone since the mad scientists at Line 6 created it, so, I might be rusty. Don’t worry though. I’ll be gentle. The core of this tone is the Cali Rectifier into the 4x12 Cali V30 Cab. I went with the stock cabs because I know I’d be sharing this tone and really, I use the cabs and IR’s evenly. I did some slight adjustments to the amp settings to squeeze it all together to get that tight sound. I actually prefer things a bit looser (now this just sounds dirty) but that metal sound is what I am shooting for… A key component to the Cali Rectifier is the EQ. Of course, I used the Cali Q Graphic in the traditional Mesa Boogie smile configuration and between the amp and the cab. And no Rectifier would be complete without the Scream 808 in front of it. Lastly, I slapped the LA Studio Comp because let's face it, it just sounds better. For the snapshots detailed below my goal was to show how much mic choice can really affect your tone. Snapshots: Snapshot 1 Tight – This is just the amp, EQ, Cab and LA Studio Comp with a 47 Condenser Mic on the Cab. Snapshot 2 Verb – Here I added the Room Reverb to the amp, EQ, Cab and LA Studio Comp with a 47 Condenser Mic on the Cab. Snapshot 3 More Verb – Swapped over to my favorite Helix Reverb, the Plate and backed off on the Decay. Same amp, EQ, Cab and LA Studio Comp with a 47 Condenser Mic on the Cab. Snapshot 4 Solo! – This has the Plate Reverb and the Transistor Tape Delay added to the 47 Condenser Mic on the Cab, LA Studio Comp and the Cali Q EQ and Cali Rectifier amp. Snapshot 5 Chug – Dropped in the 121 ribbon mic on the Cab with the amp, EQ, Cab and LA Studio Comp. Snapshot 6 Tight 57 – The good old 57 Mic come out to play with the Cali Rectifier, EQ, and LA Studio Comp. Snapshot 7 Tight Verb – SM 57 mic on the Cali V30 Cab the Cali Rectifier, EQ, and LA Studio Comp. But with the Room Reverb activated. Snapshot 8 Solo – For the third flavor I added a 161 Ribbon Mic to the Cali V30 Cab the Cali Rectifier, EQ, and LA Studio Comp. All effects have been assigned to the footswitches for those who don’t use snapshots. For those of you that have the wise sense to have a Variax, I have assigned the Lester 1 Model for this tone! I have added a 6 button Looper on this tone for face melting fun. I use my Helix in the 8 Snapshot/ 8 Stomp configuration. (Global Settings> Footswitches> Preset Mode Switches> 8 Snapshots and Global Settings> Footswitches> Stomp Mode Switches> 8 Switches). This tone works best that way. This tone has had the crap tested out of it with a Variax, a few Ibanez RG’s, my new Paisleycaster (Squire Telecaster) and even a Chapman ML-2 Modern. I certify that this tone kicks old school rock butt! This patch is also designed to be played through Full Range Flat Response speakers. You may need to adjust the EQ settings if you do not want the low end that I have added in this tone. Thanks for downloading. Please rate it. Veritechc \m/
