I've spent quite a bit of time trying to emulate both Dean's slightly OD Vox tone (intro to Big Empty, for example), as well as his unique Demeter drive sounds - heavy but articulate for those beautiful chords he uses. I ended up using a Vox as my amp through Greenback 25s and Blackback 30s. FS8 is a mid-gain sound labelled Interstate (using the Klon) and FS9 is a high-gain reminiscent of the Demeter (using the SD9) called Meatplow (!!). the phaser works well for the Army Ants intro, and Gain is a straight boost for solos. the key to the whole patch, and really the Helix, is a suggestion from users Rubytopaz and TexasDave on thegearpage.net, is to use the LA Compressor after the amp as a limiter. If this sounds like it needs some work through your set up (I'm using an Edwards Jimmy Page Les Paul and a Tech 21 PE60), start by adjusting the PeakRed and Emphasis (more emphasis lets more of the bass end come through uncompressed).
