The Hedgehog Drive (Ibanez/Maxon SD9) as the real pedal, has a weird "magic setting" (there are some reviews on that pedal pointing the same) otherwise it becomes uber fizzy. |Level has to be at the top: 10 | Tone has to be at minimum, 1-2_ish (find sweet spot) | Gain to taste (particularly on how cranked is your amp, lower that gain). Once again, I'm using a Minotaur to "tame it". Minotaur works well on not coloring by not having almost any gain (max 0.2-0,3). Put if before a drive pedal, and you boost the gain, put it after and you can control the level keeping the personality of the Drive. Turn it off if it's getting into the middle, "the Level 10 on the Hedgehog is the essence". Try to match it with a Marhsall_esque amp. On a clean channel a bit cranked, is the choice to go. On singles, it can provide a nice phat tone, try on the bridge pickup with tone rolled down. SD9 is somewhat a TS9 but it keeps the bass and has more growl. Added a slight delay, a whammy up to perfect 5th interval, and a momentary pitch shift, can't remember the interval now, you'll recognize it. No clean "channel" here. Give it a try, it is weird how having it in less than 10 makes a difference, *or is it just me*?
